Flávia Bomfim

Flávia Bomfim is a visual artist, illustrator, curator, and publisher. She has helped nurture spaces for co-creation and research in illustrated literature, illustration and visual culture in Brazil, as well as organized notable literary festivals and curated national and international illustration exhibitions. She has a particular interest in the picturebook as a medium that investigates, promotes, projects, illustrates, and writes. She received the Green Island award from the Nami Concours (Korea) in 2021 for the Brazilian edition of The Sailor’s Farewell. The book was also named the best picturebook of the year in Brazil by Quatro Cinco Um magazine in 2022; and earned a Special Mention in the Photography category at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Italy in 2023.
